Using a month-end checklist

Why send clients a checklist every month?

A named list turns "send me your paperwork" into items a client can tick off. They know exactly what is missing, and you stop finding out at quarter-end that a bank account or a card statement was never sent.

When should clients send their month-end documents?

Most practices ask in the first days of the new month, once statements for the month just closed are available, and set a due date around the 7th to the 10th so reconciliation can start on time.

What if a client has nothing for an item this month?

Ask them to say so rather than leave it blank. "No cash expenses this month" is an answer you can file; a silent gap is something you have to chase.

Which documents matter most?

Bank statements for every account come first: everything else is reconciled against them. Then sales and purchase invoices, receipts for card and cash spending, and payroll reports if the business has staff.

Stop sending this by hand.

doclasso sends the checklist to your client every month and chases until everything is in.
